A practical course providing skills and techniques to support those working with clients with English as a second or additional language.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, delegates will:

  • Understand the barriers faced by debt advice clients with English as a second language in accessing advice and support
  • Examine how our own attitudes might play a role in our work
  • Identify the skills and techniques required for effective communication
  • Discuss the use of language in debt advice client interviews and how to adjust this to support full engagement
  • Consider the practical aspects of working with debt advice clients through interpreters
